Itinerary

Day 1

Arusha to Arusha National Park

Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Arusha to Arusha National Park, where over 400 bird species await. In the morning, meet your guide and visit Arusha Town for any last-minute supplies. Then, go on a half-day walking safari and game drive through lush forests and volcanic craters. Marvel at the majestic African Crowned Eagle, the vibrant Eastern Double-collared Sunbird, and the elusive Greater Painted-snipe. As you explore, you may encounter wildlife like giraffes, baboons, and even a leopard. After a full day of bird-watching, return to Arusha for dinner and overnight at Green Mountain Hotel.

Day 2

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, head to Tarangire, home to over 550 bird species. As you explore its diverse habitats, spot rare species like the Rufous-tailed Weaver and Ashy Starling. The park’s iconic baobab trees provide a stunning backdrop for birdwatching, with Hoopoes, Hornbills, and Lilac-breasted Rollers in abundance. Tarangire also offers incredible elephant sightings as you witness up to 3,000 elephants roaming the park. In the evening, drive to Ngorongoro Forest Tented Lodge for a peaceful night.

Day 3

Tarangire to Lake Manyara National Park

Lake Manyara’s lush floodplains are a birdwatcher’s dream. With over 400 species, including migrant birds like the European Swallow and Eurasian Bee-eater, it’s an unforgettable experience. Witness massive flocks of flamingos along the lake’s edge, and look out for the stunning Grey Crowned Crane and the elusive Narina Trogon. Manyara’s forest is alive with Silvery-cheeked Hornbills, while its savannah is home to the Pangani Longclaw. After an exciting day, return to Ngorongoro Forest Tented Lodge for the night.

Day 4

Lake Manyara to Serengeti National Park

Today, travel to Serengeti National Park, known for its endless plains and incredible wildlife. As you descend into this iconic landscape, you’ll be surrounded by a vibrant array of birds. The Seronera area offers rich birdwatching opportunities, with sightings of raptors like the Bateleur Eagle, Secretary Birds, and Crowned Cranes. The Serengeti is not just a place for large mammals but also for thousands of bird species, making it a true paradise for bird lovers. Overnight at Great Exploration Camps.

Day 5

Full Day Game Drive in Serengeti National Park

Spend a full day exploring the Serengeti’s diverse habitats, from the Sogore River to the sweeping plains. Spot over 500 species of birds, from majestic ostriches to elusive vultures. In addition to the birdlife, you’ll encounter cheetahs, lions, and gazelles as they roam the Serengeti’s vast plains. The day ends with a return to Great Exploration Camps for a well-deserved rest.

Day 6

Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Crater

After an early game drive, head to Ngorongoro Crater, a stunning UNESCO World Heritage site. Here, you’ll find a rich diversity of wildlife, including lions, elephants, and the rare black rhino. In the afternoon, immerse yourself in Maasai culture with a visit to a Maasai Boma, where you’ll experience traditional songs, dances, and the warmth of the local community. Dinner and overnight stay at Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge.

Day 7

Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha

On your final day, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a breathtaking caldera teeming with wildlife. As you explore, keep an eye out for migrant birds like the Lesser Kestrel, Montagu’s Harrier, and large flocks of European Storks. With its year-round water supply and diverse vegetation, the crater is a birdwatcher’s dream. After an unforgettable day of wildlife and birding, drive back to Arusha, bringing your incredible bird-watching safari to a close.
